Sun and Mt. Hood
Sunrise and Mt. Hood

I took this photo from the office on my last day.

Last night we saw Art Spiegelman which was fantastic. I was hoping my sweetheart had written his post so I could link but I don't see it yet. Spiegelman a genius and super-interesting and I don't have time to be more articulate than that.

This morning I need to run around and find some food for us. I also need to pay some property taxes. Then I need to spend the rest of the day writing because I have pages due this weekend.

But after writer's group tomorrow, I am doing some heavy-duty loafing.

And, if any of my classmates are reading, after the loafing I'm catching up on all my crits. Well, I'm going to try.

Reception Area
New Office

These photos are all when we very first walked in the door on the first day. The previous tenants left us a few bits of furniture. These donations represent about 75 of our total furniture. We did get some office chairs.

This is the reception area. We don't have a receptionist but the phone is named Alice.

We're planning on putting a TV and couch behind that desk. We might already have a donation.

The door to the left is the conference room. I keep calling it the hot-tub room. We need a conference room table and chairs for all our many conferences.

My Office

This is my room. We swapped this tiny desk for the larger desk in the photo above. I also have 2 giant filing cabinets that you can't see in the photo. I've got most of my stuff moved in but really need to organize better.

Today we got our copier/fax/scanner/printer/space shuttle launch center delivered and installed. That's been the biggest obstacle to getting anything productive done. Picture your office life without the ability to print. What can you do?

His Office

This is my assistant's office. Ha! He can start his own blog if he wants to set the record straight. I should put his name here in case his stalkers are looking for him. But I won't.

We had our first solicitor today. I'm a little confused because he wanted to sell me office supplies but didn't have a card and said he was from Boston and just visiting town for training. Training in cold-calling? Maybe I should see if my wallet is still in my purse.

Tomorrow I'm going back to the old office to wrap up a few last details. Then I need to get rolling on the new stuff.

Concert Review: Sigur Ros

Last night Bob took me to see Sigur Ros. I was sneering at the kids taking photos because concert photos all look the same. Then I found a bunch of great photos online. Yay "cc" licensing.

Now I spent so much time farting around looking at photos I don't have time to write proper post.

Reader's Digest Condensed Version: I had a great time and I enjoyed the show.

Having said that: the music isn't really my thing. The parts that I connected with I loved. But there were parts where I was thinking: enough with the noodling kids.

And I didn’t get to bed until 11:30pm so I slept in until the slacker time of 5:45am and now my eyes are drooping past my shoulders. Time to get some work done.

And Now For Something You've Never Heard
This morning I swear I saw a woman driving and applying eye make-up at the same time. What a moron. If there was an accident and I ran over to administer first aid and the first thing I saw was a mascara wand sticking out of some idiot's eye, that would wreck my entire day.

The bus smelled like burned plastic when I boarded this morning. I double checked that I knew where the emergency exits were and how they worked. Of course there was a traffic accident and the bus smelled the entire ride. I guess I just spent 45 minutes breathing toxic fumes. Oh well, my retirement account is underfunded anyway. Not like I want to live forever.

As I seem to say every week, I have a super busy week ahead of me. Bob is taking me to Sigur Ros tonight (his idea, I don't know anything about them) and he has tickets for Art Spiegelman later in the week. Plus I have to go to yoga because my workout routine has completely disintigrated since CW and that one class a week is the only thing keeping my butt from overtaking the planet.

Bob said Great Big Sea is coming to town and I don't love seeing live music any more but I wouldn't mind seeing them but the calendar is too overloaded already. My point being, lame posting will continue.

Old Office Before
Here's my old office last week before I packed up to leave.

I wanted to highlight that little orange sticker on the window because it has the dates for Clarion West and I put that up there way back when I first thought about applying so I could figure out if the dates would work. It's been up there ever since and I hated to take it down.

Old Office AfterHere's my office after we'd packed up and loaded out. We didn't take everything.

Not related to work but related to life: I'm kind-of despairing about all the things I want to do vs. all the things that might be possible given the time and energy I have. I keep thinking that one more weekend is all I need but it never works out that way.

I'm sitting on at least a half dozen posts, some with photos, but we'll see. I'm going to stop whining for now.

I have some roasted tomatoes that I need to do something with. And I need to wind down so I can fall asleep tonight.

I did write almost all day so that's good.

I'll have photos of the new office later this week.

Bob's Red Mill Booty

When Mom and Dad were here we did a Bob's Red Mill run and I got two giant bags of grains and legumes. I got about 5 pounds of black beans because I didn't shut the handle down fast enough. I can't believe I forgot to buy flour. I also bought nuts for granola making supplies. This house is well stocked.

Pumpkin Ale
Pumpkin Ale
I love this stuff and would be drinking one right now if I had the sort of life where I could drink beer for breakfast. Instead, yogurt and blueberries and off to work.

Still in the thick of a very busy and tiring week. Have moved to the new office. Lots of unpacking, reorganizing and equipment dealings remain.

Photos to come.
